The
many benefits of pilates are achieved through correct
form in the execution of the exercises. This
form is vital if one is to truly experience the effectiveness
of the exercises as they are intended.
Correct form encompasses proper
use of the body's true core, efficient muscle recruitment,
correct alignment, efficient breathing and concentration.
Not only are these principles the core of the Pilates
Method, they are necessary for good body mechanics and
effectiveness in all physical activity. Proper
form is the key to the transformative nature of the
work.
A solid
foundation of body awareness and proper body mechanics
carries over into all aspects of our lives, off the
mat and into the world. This make us more effective
in all our physical endeavors as well as less prone
to injury, lighter, more energetic and allows us to
develop a positive relationship with our bodies which
becomes increasingly enjoyable over time.
Regardless if you are training
for everyday life or a high level sport, a foundation
in Pilates will increase your awareness, enjoyment and
effectiveness in everything you do.
My approach is to assist students
in developing a foundation of movement through the
principles of Pilates to prepare them for a successful,
enjoyable and strain free experience in Pilates and
all physical endeavors.
