Why Private Instruction?
The process of learning
Pilates involves changing lifelong movement patterns
and learning and creating new ways of moving. Private
instruction allows me to work with your body's unique
story, and to tailor the work specifically to you. This
approach supports a faster progression and more complete
understanding of the work, which alters the learning
curve considerably.
Who
is a good candidate for Pilates?
Anyone at any level of physical conditioning. You
do not need to be flexible, strong or coordinated to
participate in or enjoy Pilates. The Method allows
you to begin where you are at and progress at your pace.
Pilates in non-strenuous when practiced in proper form
and is meant to feel effortless and enjoyable. Whether
you are new to exercise or a seasoned athlete looking
to improve your performance and fine tune your body,
Pilates is an ideal method of physical and mental conditioning.
What about books and tapes?
There are many good books and tapes out there. However,
you cannot learn Pilates in this way. As described,
the benefits of Pilates come with proper form. Proper
form can only be learned from a qualified instructor.
However, once the basics are learned, books and tapes
can be wonderful tools to enrich your understanding
and experience of the work.
